Thy Kingdom Come- opportunities to pray

25th May – 4th June

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement, which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ. We will be meeting for an hour at the church on Wednesdays 24th and 31st May between 6 and 7pm to pray for our local community, our nation and our world in different ways… you might also like to take home a prayer box to help you to focus on praying for a particular country. Wroughton Carnival- Saturday 1st July Last year we were able to support the carnival by providing stewards for the procession and the field and the carnival committee has asked for our help again this year. We are looking particularly for someone who is able to be a link between the committee and stewarding volunteers and for those who might be able to steward on the day. Please talk to Michael or Nicola.

Holiday Club

We are planning to run Holiday Club on the mornings of 14th to 18th August. If you are able to help for all or part of the week please let me know, I will give you dates for planning meetings soon. Barbara

Healing on the Streets

Once a fortnight on Saturdays you will find a team of four Christians offering to talk and/or pray with people in the Ellendune shopping centre. We would love to have more names on our rota of people willing to join us in this valuable work. A friendly greeting and a willingness to have a conversation is all most people expect, so if you aren’t comfortable praying for someone, there will be others to do this. Our thanks go to Michael our Vicar for his commitment to HOTS over the years, and also to Teresa who will now be very busy with her training for the ministry, but without them our numbers are considerably reduced. Please prayerfully consider whether you could offer to be with us for a couple of hours on the occasional Saturday as part of our Christian outreach and have a chat with Barbara Abrey or Margaret Penfound to find out more.

Wooden Bookcases

We have two wooden bookcases which are now surplus to requirements if you would like one or both of this please speak to Nick Orman.

Church Mission Society

Kate Quarrell, our CMS link in Kuluva, Uganda, has requested our prayers for:

  • the staff in the hospital where she works as a midwifery tutor, that God would inspire their practice and provide the resources they need to meet the needs of women and their babies
  • Kate and the other tutors, challenging old ways and encouraging the students to adopt better practices
  • the students, that they might be willing to learn and use modern information
  • praise God that people like Kate are willing to go in His name to benefit others.

Knitting for Mission to Seafarers

Thanks again to all our keen knitters. I sent off another batch of hats and scarves to the charity last week and have just received another large number of hats and scarves. Also thanks to those who have donated wool – there is a good selection in the white boxes on the bench by the choir vestry together with patterns, so please help yourselves if you want to get started on a hat, scarf or gloves. Completed items should be put in one of these boxes. Although it is coming into warmer weather here, it is winter in the southern hemisphere so the need for knitwear carries on. For further information talk to Janet Henderson (525856).

This week please pray for:-

  • Church Mission Society
  • The Residents of The Mountings and Aviemore Road
  • Those suffering drought in South Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria and Somalia
  • Sam & Kat and their families as they marry in Church on Saturday
  • All those preparing for the Legge House Spring Fayre on Sunday 21st May
  • We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have died recently. We pray for all who mourn the loss of loved ones.
