Goodbye to Michael and Sue

Today we say a fond farewell to our vicar, Canon Michael Johnson, after nearly 24 years of ministry here in Wroughton. We are so thankful for the many ways in which he has faithfully served the church and the local community over his time here, and wish him and Sue well as they move into this next season of their life.

Thy Kingdom Come- collect your prayer boxes

If you’ve signed up for a prayer box then do take it today… The idea of it is simply to provide a visual reminder to pray for your chosen country as regularly as you can during our focused time of prayer between Ascension and Pentecost. Pray as you choose! You might like to colour the flag and light the tea light, you might choose to write a few useful prayer points, and if you would like to bring your box to swap and pray for another country then please do on either of our evening prayer meetings on Sunday 28th. We’ll be meeting for an hour at the church on Wednesday 31st May between 6 and 7pm to pray for our local community, our nation and our world in different ways, please do come!

Children’s Gardening Morning

On Wednesday 31st May from 10.30am, we will be working with Vision 4 Wroughton to run a children’s gardening morning at Willowbrook Gardens. 115 Club Fundraising Event for World Vision

Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraiser for WV Albania.  To everyone who came; to those who gave a donation; to those who provided food;  and to those who wished us well. Our club members worked hard as a team and we’re very proud of them. It was an enjoyable and successful evening and we raised a fantastic £600!

We will let you know in due course how the money will be used by the World Vision team in Albania.

Church Mission Society

Kate Quarrell, our CMS link in Kuluva, Uganda, has requested our prayers for:

  • the staff in the hospital where she works as a midwifery tutor, that God would inspire their practice and provide the resources they need to meet the needs of women and their babies
  • Kate and the other tutors, challenging old ways and encouraging the students to adopt better practices
  • the students, that they might be willing to learn and use modern information
  • praise God that people like Kate are willing to go in His name to benefit others.

Knitting for Mission to Seafarers

Thanks again to all our keen knitters. I sent off another batch of hats and scarves to the charity last week and have just received another large number of hats and scarves. Also thanks to those who have donated wool – there is a good selection in the white boxes on the bench by the choir vestry together with patterns, so please help yourselves if you want to get started on a hat, scarf or gloves. Completed items should be put in one of these boxes. Although it is coming into warmer weather here, it is winter in the southern hemisphere so the need for knitwear carries on. For further information talk to Janet Henderson (525856).

This week please pray for:-

  • Church Mission Society
  • The Residents of Perrys Lane and Arnhill Road
  • Families in Manchester after the attack on Tuesday
  • Michael & Sue as they start a new phase in their lives
  • We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have died recently., especially June Pazzard and Brian Richardson. We pray for all who mourn the loss of loved ones.
