Easter 4

A PRAYER FOR EASTER

Lord of life

PCC elections at Annual Parochial Church Meeting on 29 April at 11am

Please consider prayerfully whether you could stand for election to the Parochial Church Council at the APCM this year. There are five vacancies to be filled and to be eligible you need to have been on the electoral roll for 6 months. Nomination forms are available in church and when completed please hand either to Helen Toomer (PCC Secretary), either of the churchwardens or to the Parish Office. If you think you may be interested or would like more information, please ask any of the current PCC members or leadership team.

Diocesan Synod Elections

Have you thought about becoming a member of Diocesan Synod? Any church member on the electoral roll over the age of 16 is eligible to stand for election, you do not have to be a PCC or Deanery Synod member to stand. For more information speak to Barbara.

Letter of thanks from Bishop Lee for 2017 Parish Share

We have received a letter of thanks from Bishop Lee thanking us for the £94,000 we gave as a parish in 2017 to support ministry and mission across the Diocese through Parish Share- please see the poster on the noticeboard at the back of church.

Revision of Electoral Roll

It’s the time of year when we update our Electoral Roll. If you are a regular worshipper here and are not yet on our Electoral Roll, please fill in an Application Form available in church and return it to a churchwarden/clergyperson/parish office.

Although the closing date is gone you can still complete a form but will not be on the new role in time for the Annual Meeting.

Any queries, please speak to Helen Toomer (PCC Secretary) or Mike/Helena (Churchwardens).

The Listening Post

We live in times of rapid change and uncertain developments, both at home and abroad. Don’t believe that you can’t influence events – come and be a prayer warrior! Our next hour of praying together will be on Tuesday, 24th April at 7.30 p.m. in the church. We would love to see you there!

Clergy Surgery

From now on Tuesday evening surgery will only be on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.

Thank You

Thanks for your support financially in making my course at Schumaker College a success. Thank you also for your love and support when I come to your Church, I must confess you make me feel at home away from home.

The course was a great experience, different people from different countries, nice food and the beautiful countryside of Devon. I am sure my Kenyan friends and farmers will benefit from my experience. I hope and trust that I will come back again in the near future. Thanks again, Joyce Mwangi

Dementia Friends Information Session

Further to running a session last year, I am looking to run a further session soon. Dementia Friends is a social action movement that aims to increase understanding of dementia and inspire people to take action to support people affected by dementia in their community. The sessions last for 1 hour  – would you like to come along to learn more about dementia and how we can help those around us?? If so, please sign the sign up sheet with your details on the Church Chest. I will then plan dates and let you know when the sessions are running – Many thanks Cheryl

Poppy Display

We are planning to make a large display of poppies in church to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1. So that we have enough poppies we would like you to get knitting and sewing poppies using any pattern you can find. If you need a pattern there are some on the church chest.

CHURCH IN THE WIDER WORLD

Swindon Youth for Christ

Swindon Youth for Christ staff and volunteers go out to meet young people where they are. Many areas of Swindon, including Wichelstowe get a weekly visit from the team, so that young people who are out on the streets have the opportunity to talk about their lives and their issues with the youth workers.

Please pray for the conversations that take place and the relationships that are built, so that the young people may be encouareged to make positive life choices.

Knitting for Mission to Seafarers

A big thank you to our faithful knitters. I have sent off 27 hats, 1 pair of gloves, 1 balaclava and 8 scarves. There are several balls of wool in the box so if you have the time please get knitting. Patterns are also in the box. Janet Henderson

This week please also pray for:-

  • Swindon Youth for Christ
  • The Listening Post
  • Our Church and Worship Group
  • We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have died recently especially Sheila Pegler, Gordon Burchell, Barry Carter, Valerie Clark, Derek Thompson, and Evelyn Joyce Davies (known as Joyce). We pray for all who mourn the loss of loved ones.
