Home Communion
If you know of anyone who would like the option of Holy Communion at home please speak to Janet in the Parish Office.
Bless Wroughton and Wichelstowe
We would like to be a church where people are energised by faith and that brings God’s presence and blessing to the communities where we live, work and worship. Beginning on Tuesday the 18th December, we will be meeting monthly at 7:30pm in the Church Hall to pray for God’s blessing on the people, institutions and employers in our parish and to think and pray together about what God might have in store for us over the years ahead. Please come and join us. (Revd Phill)
Community Christmas Card
This year the children at Church at 4 are making a card for us. Please don’t buy lots of cards for your friends in church but sign the community card and make a donation of the money you have saved to Children’s Society.
Ladies who Lunch (please note change of time)
Christmas Lunch is on Monday 17th December at 1pm
at The Baker’s Arms, Badbury. This lunch is open to any lady in any of the 4 congregations – even if you have never joined us before – you will be very welcome.
Menus on the church chest – please make your choices and return the menu to me by Sunday 2nd December Thank you, Gwen (813573)
115 Club Christmas Cake raffle
As in previous years Kathy Gregory has made and donated a Christmas cake to the 115 Club for us to raffle. In addition, and to help you wash down your piece of cake, Kathy and Alan have also generously donated a bottle of Prosecco. Tickets cost 50p each or £2 for a strip of five tickets and can be purchased in church from 9 December from Ross Fralley.
Filling Station
Our church will be supplying sandwiches etc. for the homeless in Swindon on Thursday, 13th December. If you are willing to contribute, please sign on the list on the church chest and take a reminder note for details of where and when to bring it.
Children’s Society
Many thanks to all Children’s Society box holders. We have raised £311 from this year’s box opening. Having been our church Children’s Society co-ordinator for the past 9 years,
I am thinking of passing this role to someone new. If you would like to support The Children’s Society in this way please speak to me at church or call me on 637161 for further details. Carolyn Kirk
Can you help!
The coffee team would greatly appreciate some volunteers to give us a hand. It would entail doing the coffees about once a month. If you are interested please talk to Sally Parker, Carolyn Kirk or Karen Ferguson.
CHURCH IN THE WIDER WORLD
The Children’s Society
This children’s charity writes:
We are a national charity that works with the country’s most vulnerable children and young people. We listen. We support. We act. Because no child should feel alone.
Please pray:
- for children who will have to spend Christmas in homes where they are abused rather than loved
- for parents struggling to cope with a disabled child
- for the Children’s Society, reaching out to vulnerable children and families
- for Christingle services throughout the country, that they will encourage people to give generously for the Society’s work.
Knitting for Mission to Seafarers
During the last three months I have been able to send off three large boxes of knitted hats, scarves and gloves to Mission to Seafarers. These are distributed to those working on ships in adverse weather conditions who do not own warm clothing. Thank you to everyone who keeps knitting and to those who provide wool. If you would like to get started there are patterns and wool in the boxes by the choir vestry. For further information please contact Janet Henderson 525856.
This week please also pray for:-
- Children’s Society
- Our CMS Mission Partners Phil & Sylvie Good
- For those involved in our Advent and Christmas preparation over the next few weeks
- Staff and residents in the care homes in Wroughton
- Schools and Preschools who are preparing for their Christmas Services
- For our Standing Committee who are meeting this week
- We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have died recently especially Sylvia Henbery, Ron Stevens, Derek Farr, Cathy Kitt and Brenda Pope. We pray for all who mourn the loss of loved ones.
