Easter 4
A PRAYER FOR EASTER
Lord of life
You defeated death

Count your Blessings
We hope you have found the Count your Blessings leaflets thought provoking but interesting during Lent. Please make sure that Christian Aid benefits from the challenges by sending them your donations. The instructions are in the back of the leaflet. Your generosity will help many people struggling to survive.
The Harbour Quiz
Thank you to everyone who came and supported the Quiz for the Harbour Project. We had a wonderful evening and helped to raise £2,857 for the Project’s work with asylum seekers and refugees.
Have you heard of The Bible?
Of course you have – but how much do you really know about it? You will soon be able to find out a lot more as we shall be running the Bible Society’s course about the Bible which looks at questions such as how it was put together, who wrote it and why. Is it still relevant today? As it is the Christian’s handbook we can all benefit from knowing more about it. Please consider signing up for the course which will start in mid May. There is a signup sheet with times etc. on the church chest.
Holiday Club craft
We need corner yogurt containers and small glass jars (mustard size) for the children to use in some of the craft at holiday Club, so if you have any please save them for us. Any left over will be recycled.
Cream Teas and Bring & Buy
Saturday 1st June 2019, 2.45pm

Duck Race
Thank you to the Community Engagement Group for organising our contribution to the Duck Race on Monday. We had great fun shooting ducks with a water gun and getting a bit wet. We also had several pictures entered into our colouring competition and winners have been informed. Thanks particularly to those who looked after the stall. If the numbers are as big as they were this year we will need more help next year.
Spring Harvest 2020
Hopefully many of you will have chatted to those who went to Spring Harvest 2019, and will have heard what an uplifting and encouraging time they had there. We’d love it if even more of us could go next year. Watch this space for more details over the coming weeks! Phill Harrison
Ladies who Lunch
Ladies who Lunch is on Thursday 16th May at 12.30pm at The Greyhound, Siddington, near Cirencester.
CHURCH IN THE WIDER WORLD
Swindon Youth for Christ
Swindon Youth for Christ staff and volunteers go into local schools to take lessons and assemblies, and run lunchtime and after school groups. This provides opportunities to bring a Christian perspective to discussions on various issues with groups of young people, and for individual mentoring of vulnerable teenagers. Please pray that more schools would invite them to work with their students, and that churches would be encouraged to join them to work in the schools in their neighbourhoods.
Knitting for Mission to Seafarers
At the end of April I was able to send off another 30 hats and 16 scarves. This brings the total for the year so far to 75 hats and 45 scarves which is magnificent. Thank you very much. The charity are always grateful to receive our knitwear so if you need a knitting project there are patterns available in church, or if you can donate some wool please leave it in one of the boxes by the blue vestry curtains. Details from Janet Henderson 525856.
Legge House Monthly Prayer Point
Thank you for your prayer support. This month please pray for The Trustees with the AGM and the decisions needed to continue to take Legge House forward.
Also for Glenn, the new member of staff, that he will settle in and learn the role quickly and efficiently.
This week please also pray for:-
- Swindon Youth for Christ
- The families and friends of Esme, Erin & Niamh as they are Christened in Church next Sunday
- Members of the PCC as they meet this week
- We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have died recently especially Joan Ewing and Michael Bates. We pray for all who mourn the loss of loved ones.
