Stewardship 3

Prayer for Stewardship

Loving Father

you have made us your people,

richly provided us with good gifts

and called us to live for you;

may gratitude be in our hearts;

may generosity be in our hands;

may justice and righteousness guide

our feet and may the life of your kingdom

and the joy of heaven be found among us.

Amen

Our Vision

Update on parish finances

Thank you to everyone who has returned their Giving in Grace response cards; around a quarter have been returned so far.

We currently spend £2,334 each week on serving the communities of Wroughton and Wichelstowe, maintaining our buildings and supporting our mission partners. Until this week we had been £241 per week short of this amount. We’re delighted to be able to report that we’ve already filled around half of our weekly budget gap.

If everyone were able to give an extra £2.20 per week then we would be secure financially and able to do all of that we plan to do in the next 12 months. Please prayerfully consider your response to this challenge.

Pray and Bless Wroughton and Wichelstowe

We will be meeting at 7:30pm THIS TUESDAY in the Church Hall to pray for and bless our community. This regular monthly event has produced some real encounters with the Holy Spirit – God is moving in this place! Join us as we seek to be good news and as we explore what God might have in store for us over the months ahead.

Spring Harvest

If you have booked to go to Spring Harvest (Minehead week 2) next year then it would be good to arrange to be together and catch up at various points during the week. Please can you let Phill or Karen Harrison know, so that we can make arrangements nearer the time. If you haven’t booked yet then it’s (probably) not too late!

IMPORTANT! ‘Praying in’ the Deanery School.

On Saturday July 20th the Deanery School are hosting a prayer day for members of the public, involving a tour of the school, a Prayer Walk and lunch! The day will start at 9:15 with a tour and finish at 1:30. This is our opportunity to show we care, to ask God to bless the new building and everyone who uses it and, of course, to satisfy our curiosity.

You do need to register, so please Google ‘prayer day for the Deanery CE Academy’ and follow the link in the first search result to ‘eventbrite’ where you can sign-up.  See you there!

Deanery school regular prayer meeting

Since before the building existed, we have been hosting a meeting to pray for the Deanery school after each governing body (Local Board) meeting. Until now these prayer meetings have taken place in our church, however the new school building is now open, so our next meeting will be at 7:30pm on Monday 15th July at the school.

Funeral – Edna Cripps

It is with sadness that we announced the death of Edna last week.  Her years of service to the church will always be remembered.  The funeral will take place on Monday 22nd July at 11.00am.  Service in Church followed by burial in the Churchyard.  The reception afterwards will take place in Legge House.

Funeral – Jane Dudley

The funeral of Jane Dudley will take place on Tuesday 23rd July at 2.15pm.  The Service will take place at Kingsdown Crematorium. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kelvin and family.

Date for your diary!

This autumn we will be having a ‘Parish Weekend at home’. Please keep the weekend of 12th and 13th October free. We have a guest speaker booked and hope to include plenty of opportunities for fellowship and laughter as well as growing in our relationship with God.

Holiday Club

Thank you for all your donations so far.  I think we now have enough corner yogurt pots and nearly enough jars, but we will also need cardboard boxes for craft, any size cereal boxes would be fine.

Artist Wanted

Could you, or someone you know, design a poster for our sustainability day? We probably need a colourful version that can be used to advertise on social media and a black and white one for the Wroughton Monthly and printing out. Please contact Joan Orman (joan.orman@btinternet.com) for more information.

Ladies who Lunch

The next lunch is Thursday 18th July, 12.30pm at the Royal Oak, Marlborough.  Please let Gwen Poole know if you are going by Tuesday 16th July.

Ride and Stride

‘This year’s Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust Ride and Stride for Churches event takes place on Saturday 14th September. The event raises funds for the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust, a charity involved in giving grants for the maintenance of our historic places of worship in the County.

The event takes place between 10.00 am and 6.00 pm on the Saturday and participants visit as many of the local participating Wiltshire Churches as they choose, either by cycling, walking or even on horseback! The event is sponsored, with the participant typically raising more, with the more Churches visited. The participating churches provide a wonderful range of rural and urban churches, in many architectural styles and fashions to admire. This year the event has a special launch by the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, taking place at St Bartholomew’s Church, Corsham.

If you would like to take part, please contact your parish organiser for the event, Mike Mason. Mike can be contacted via the office email: office@wroughton.com or in person. Mike can provide further details and a sponsorship form – there is also a JustGiving option available.’

CHURCH IN THE WIDER WORLD

Phil and Sylvie Good are our Church Mission Society link partners, working in Beirut in Lebanon to help the smooth running and development of Christian churches there. Phil has been helping to run The Life Center, a very busy hub for all types of activities and functions, while Sylvie has instigated work with children. Their work is especially concerned with Syrian refugees, as there is a large refugee camp outside the city.

Please pray:

  • That a new strategic funding partner can be found to support the Life Center’s educational work
  • That the mothers attending The Center will learn how to play more effectively with their children
  • That many more of the refugees will come to know and love Jesus.

Legge House Monthly Prayer Point

We have had several cancellations which has knocked things a little. So please pray that Legge will be well used for the rest of the year and guests receive God’s blessing while here.

This week please also pray for:-

  • Swindon Youth for Christ
  • For the family and friends of Isla Clark as she is christened in Church today
  • For the staff and patients at the Ridgeway Hospital
  • For those who are organising this year’s Holiday Club
  • Our Bible Study Groups
  • For the Deanery School Prayer Day on Saturday
  • We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have died recently especially Jane Dudley, Kay Bond and Edna Cripps. We pray for all who mourn the loss of loved ones.
