Trinity 5
A Trinity Prayer
I bind unto myself the name,
The strong name of the Trinity;
By invocation of the same.
The Three in One, and One in Three,
Of whom all nature hath creation,
Eternal Father, Spirit, Word:
Praise to the Lord of my salvation
salvation is of Christ the Lord. Amen

Our Vision
Update on parish finances
Thank you to everyone who has returned their Giving in Grace response cards. If you haven’t returned yours yet then please do so.
We want to continue to bring the good news of the Gospel to our community; to be good news for our community. We currently spend £2,334 each week on serving the communities of Wroughton and Wichelstowe, maintaining our buildings and supporting our mission partners. Until last week we had been £241 per week short of this amount. We’re delighted to be able to report that thanks to your generous pledges of support we have been able to significantly reduce our weekly budget gap.
If everyone were able to give an extra £2.20 per week then we would be secure financially and able to do all of that we plan to do in the next 12 months. Please prayerfully consider your response to this challenge.

Pray and Bless Wroughton and Wichelstowe
We met last Tuesday to pray for and bless our community with a mix of interactive and active (sporty!) prayers and reflections. We will take a short break over August and return on Tuesday 17th September (3rd Tuesday of every month).
Spring Harvest
If you have booked to go to Spring Harvest (Minehead week 2) next year then it would be good to arrange to be together and catch up at various points during the week. Please can you let Phill or Karen Harrison know, so that we can make arrangements nearer the time. If you haven’t booked yet then it’s (probably) not too late!
Small Groups
The Bible Society’s Bible Course has proved a great success, attracting over 30 people to our 3 groups. Those who attended have a better understanding of the relationship between the Old and New Testaments and how God has led and continues to lead his people through the centuries.
In September, we shall be studying Paul’s letter to the Romans. Do come and join us!
Funeral – Edna Cripps
It is with sadness that we announced the death of Edna last week. Her years of service to the church will always be remembered. The funeral will take place on Monday 22nd July at 11.00am. Service in Church followed by burial in the Churchyard. The reception afterwards will take place in Legge House.
Funeral – Jane Dudley
The funeral of Jane Dudley will take place on Tuesday 23rd July at 2.15pm. The Service will take place at Kingsdown Crematorium. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kelvin and family.
Date for your diary!
This autumn we will be having a ‘Parish Weekend at home’. Please keep the weekend of 12th and 13th October free. We have a guest speaker booked and hope to include plenty of opportunities for fellowship and laughter as well as growing in our relationship with God.
Holiday Club
Thank you for all your donations so far. I think we now have enough corner yogurt pots and nearly enough jars, but we will also need cardboard boxes for craft, any size cereal boxes would be fine.
Artist Wanted
Could you, or someone you know, design a poster for our sustainability day? We probably need a colourful version that can be used to advertise on social media and a black and white one for the Wroughton Monthly and printing out. Please contact Joan Orman (joan.orman@btinternet.com) for more information.
Ride and Stride
‘This year’s Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust Ride and Stride for Churches event takes place on Saturday 14th September. The event raises funds for the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust, a charity involved in giving grants for the maintenance of our historic places of worship in the County.
The event takes place between 10.00 am and 6.00 pm on the Saturday and participants visit as many of the local participating Wiltshire Churches as they choose, either by cycling, walking or even on horseback! The event is sponsored, with the participant typically raising more, with the more Churches visited. The participating churches provide a wonderful range of rural and urban churches, in many architectural styles and fashions to admire. This year the event has a special launch by the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, taking place at St Bartholomew’s Church, Corsham.
If you would like to take part, please contact your parish organiser for the event, Mike Mason. Mike can be contacted via the office email: office@wroughton.com or in person. Mike can provide further details and a sponsorship form – there is also a JustGiving option available.’
CHURCH IN THE WIDER WORLD
Next week we will be hearing an update from Phil and Sylvie Good, our Church Mission Society link partners. Phil and Sylvie are working in Beirut in Lebanon to help the smooth running and development of Christian churches there. Phil has been helping to run The Life Center, a very busy hub for all types of activities and functions, while Sylvie has instigated work with children. Their work is especially concerned with Syrian refugees, as there is a large refugee camp outside the city.
Please pray:
- That a new strategic funding partner can be found to support the Life Center’s educational work
- That the mothers attending The Center will learn how to play more effectively with their children
- That many more of the refugees will come to know and love Jesus.
Our CMS link partner
We are very pleased to welcome Sylvie Good to our church on Sunday, 28th July. She is visiting England for a short break from Beirut and will be able to tell us more about the work that she and Phil are doing as Christ’s representatives in the Lebanon. There will be an opportunity to chat to her and learn how we can give our support.
This week please also pray for:-
- Phil and Sylvie Good our Church Mission Society link partners
- For the family and friends of Rubie Stringer and Larosa Amy Freedom Bevan as they are christened in Church today
- For those who are organising this years Holiday Club
- The family and friends of Tobias and Diana as they marry in Church next Saturday.
- We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have died recently especially Jane Dudley and Edna Cripps. We pray for all who mourn the loss of loved ones.
