Trinity 11

Hello All

As some of us are looking forward to worshipping in church again and others decide to stay at home for a little longer we need to remember that both decisions are equally valid. We were used to worshipping in church each week, but over the last few months we have also become used to worshipping from home, or as we walk in the countryside or sit in our gardens. Long gone are the days when we were taught that God could only be encountered in church. Our enforced absence from the church building has reminded us that worshipping the creator within his creation can be a wonderful experience.

Love and blessings

Church Service this Sunday 23rd -10am    We will be holding our first service in church since ‘lockdown’ – hurrah!  Thank you to those who have already let Janet know they will be attending (if you haven’t done so, please let her know on office@wroughton.com or 01793 812050 by Friday lunchtime).  Things will be different to normal, so please make sure you have and wear a face mask; and be aware that you may not be able to sit in your ‘normal’ pew!  We will of course be following all the government and C of E guidelines with regard to social distancing, cleaning and other advice…..

The 10am telephone service will still take place, so please do dial in as usual – you will actively be taking part in the church service, albeit remotely- the technology has been tested …. and we pray that it behaves on Sunday!

  • To join the Sunday service first dial this number: 03300 945 940.
  • When prompted, enter the room number, followed by # on your telephone keypad: 60527473 #
  • Finally, enter the guest PIN: 2656 #
  • You may have to listen to some announcements, but you will then be automatically joined to the conference call. Join in with the responses in the liturgy as you would normally.

Calls to ‘03’ numbers are charged at the standard national rate and are included in your ‘free minutes’ if you have a call-plan.

Church Cleaning – Saturday 22nd – 9am to 11am   The builders have finished work inside the church for now, and are clearing up this week.  They will do a ‘builder’s clean’ – however this will not be sufficient for us to use the church safely on Sunday. So, if anyone has some free time on Saturday morning and you are able, do come along to church to help us clear and clean in readiness for our service. Please bring a face mask, and antibacterial cleaner and a cloth if possible. More hands make light work!  Many thanks in advance…….

‘Our grateful thanks’ – Bishop Viv and Archdeacon Christopher have sent an expression of their gratitude to all at the Parish of Wroughton and Wichelstowe for our Parish Share gift of £95,000 to the Diocese of Bristol in 2019 and their certificate will be on display in church shortly. They say ‘Parish Share is vital: it is funding ministry both in your parish and across the Diocese, and pays for training the ministers of the future. That’s why last year we asked parishes to make Parish Share a priority and to give the ‘first-fruits’ of their income. Only this makes ministry possible and we thank you for your generous response. We trust in God for his provision in the future: And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause. 2 Corinthians 9:8.

Traidcraft

The Traidcraft website has some lovely face masks that are available at a discount – £3.20 instead of £4.00 – if ordered through Sally Parker.  If you’re missing the Traidcraft goods that are normally on sale after church, then do look at their website:  www.traidcraftshop.co.uk   Orders for any items can be sent to Sally by email:  sally2002@live.co.uk, and the discount she receives will be passed on to you.

Update on Ordination Date

Just to let you know I have received a date for Ordination of Sunday 11th October at 3.30pm. At the moment we do not have any other details about the service. Once I have any further details I will of course let you know. Thank you all for your ongoing prayers – they are very much appreciated. I am beginning to feel settled and meeting people which is great and look forward to finally finishing my secular employment on the 20th August. I preach for the first time on the 30th August! You all remain in my prayers and I look forward to the time I can return to see you all. With Every Blessing, Cheryl
