Church Service -10am We will continue with our 10am Service in church. If you wish to book a place please continue to let Janet know you will be attending (Please let her know on office@wroughton.com or 01793 812050 by Friday lunchtime). Things will be different to normal, so please make sure you have and wear a face mask; and be aware that you may not be able to sit in your ‘normal’ pew! We will of course be following all the government and C of E guidelines with regard to social distancing, cleaning and other advice…..
The 10am telephone service is still taking place, so if you can’t join us in the church building please do dial in – you will be taking part in the service in church, albeit remotely.
• To join the Sunday service first dial this number: 03300 945 940.
• When prompted, enter the room number, followed by # on your telephone keypad: 60527473 #
• Finally, enter the guest PIN: 2656 #
• You may have to listen to some announcements, but you will then be automatically joined to the conference call. Join in with the responses in the liturgy as you would normally.
Calls to ‘03’ numbers are charged at the standard national rate and are included in your ‘free minutes’ if you have a call-plan.

10am Service – Book your seat on line via Evenbrite
You now have the option to book your own seat for our 10am Service via Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sunday-service-27th-september-2020-registration-121363592773 if you haven’t got online facilities please continue to let Janet know and she will book your place.
Season of creation
Throughout September we will be joining with Christians around the globe to celebrate The Season of Creation. This is a time to renew our relationship with our Creator and all creation through repenting, repairing, and rejoicing together. We can all do something to walk more lightly on the planet. It may interest you to know that the paper cups we have been using at Holy Communion are compostable, as are the bin liners in the bin the by the door. Please put your used cups in this bin and then they will be added to the vicarage composter and turned into plant food (this also ensures that any left-over drops of consecrated wine avoid going into the general waste).

Floodlighting
The church floodlights have been switched off now that we’re able to worship in the building again. This will reduce our carbon footprint as well as our energy bill. If you would like to sponsor the floodlights in memory of someone or to mark a significant anniversary then please speak to Janet in the Parish Office or fill in the form that can be found on our website.

Parish office update
Janet is now working some of her hours from the Parish Office. Due to the small size of this space it is not possible for her to welcome visitors, so please continue to contact her via email (office@wroughton.com) or telephone (01793 812050).

Service Sheets
Now that Janet is back in the office she is able to print the weekly service sheet as ‘normal’, so you no longer need to bring your own copy with you when you come to church. There will be a (very) limited number of notice sheets available in church, please leave these for people who aren’t able to receive the notices via email.

Face masks
Unless you are exempt for medical reasons, please wear face masks whenever you’re in church and please try to ensure that they cover both your nose and mouth. People who are reading or leading intercessions may remove their mask when they get to the lectern. Thank you.

Building work
Crowstep BSL have now substantially finished their programme of work on the church building – we look forward to the re-plastering next year. As one job finishes another begins… so Dawson’s Steeplejacks are now doing some re-pointing on the South elevation of the Tower. We have also been busy in the Church Hall, with improvements to the ventilation that should reduce heat loss due to drafts as well as a substantial amount of work refurbishing the Victorian windows – which should now both open AND close!

‘Notice of Annual Meeting of Parishioners for the Election of Churchwardens and the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM)’-
We have been given the go ahead so these annual meetings will take place on Sunday 11 October 2020 at 11am in church with a maximum of 30 people permitted to attend. There will be an option to dial in on the telephone to take part remotely. Nearer the time, you will be invited to book a place if attending in person. Agendas and copies of the Annual Reports and Accounts together with minutes of last year’s meetings will be circulated by email with some hard copies also available. Nomination forms will also be available for elections to both the Parochial Church Council and Deanery Synod. There will be six vacancies on the PCC and three vacancies on Deanery Synod. If you are interested in serving in either capacity and would like further information do please ask the Vicar/Churchwardens or Helen Toomer PCC Secretary (htoomer@outlook.com). The APCM is an opportunity for any questions or matters relating to church affairs to be raised.

‘Notice of PCC meetings – the next PCC meeting will be held on 28 September at 7.30pm by Zoom/telephone. There will also be the usual very short PCC meeting immediately following the Annual Meeting on 11 October to elect PCC officers’

Janet Henderson Race for Life 2020
Five years ago my daughter, daughter in law and I took part in the Race for Life, raising money for Cancer Research, at Newbury Showground. This year I am taking part in a very different Race for Life. It isn’t being held at big venues like Liddiard Park or Newbury showground but Participants are being asked to walk or run 5km in
their own neighbourhood, on their own or in their bubble, at any time on September 26th. Please can you help either by also signing up for the event or by sponsoring me by donating to Cancer Research UK on the page https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/janets-very-2020-race-for-life-6 ?
For further details contact Janet Henderson on 525856

Spring Harvest 2021
We had been hoping to get a group together to attend Spring Harvest in April 2021. However, in the current circumstances, it’s very difficult to know what will happen next week, never mind in April next year. People are of course still able to attend on their own, but we won’t be trying to organise a group. All of the Spring Harvest session will be available on-line in 2021, so we will look into the possibility of doing ‘Spring Harvest at Home’ from the Church Hall – playing the sessions on the big screen and then using these as a springboard for discussion or prayer afterwards. Karen Harrison

Traidcraft
There is a new Winter Traidcraft catalogue out. If you would like to order anything from it please let me know. There is 20% off pasta until mid October and masks are just £3.20. I will deliver to you if you are not going to Church. Sally Parker sally2002@live.co.uk

Cheryl’s Ordination
Cheryl’s ordination date has now been confirmed as 11th October @ 5.00 pm. COVID restrictions mean that it is not possible for us to travel to the cathedral to support Cheryl on this occasion (we look forward to restrictions easing ahead of her priesting in July next year!). Revd Phill will be attending on behalf of the parish and would be delighted to pass on your cards and good wishes. Cheryl’s ember cards are available at the back of church – please continue to hold her in your prayers.

The ordination service will be live streamed on the Bristol Cathedral`s YouTube channel as well as their Facebook page. The link to the Cathedral YouTube channel is below, but please note, the link will not go live until the service starts at 5.00 pm:

Posting Giving Envelopes in the Church Hall
If you are posting envelopes in the church hall letterbox during the day and find the door open, please place your envelopes in the red Parish Office letterbox inside the porch on the right. This is emptied regularly.

Photos
Please continue to send your photo’s to me office@wroughton.com so that I can include on the notices and service sheets. Janet

The Church will be floodlit on Saturday 19th September by Janet Burchell  family in memory of her Dad, Jack Bamford.
