Booking for Church Services
The need for social distancing means that the capacity of the church building is limited. If you wish to attend the 10am or Church at 4 services in person then you will need to book your place in advance each week. You can do this in two ways:
- On Line Booking – please follow the link to Eventbrite and select the date of the service that want to book: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1000-am-sunday-service-at-wroughton-wichelstowe-parish-church-tickets-121970305467
- Telephone – if you can’t use the online booking then please phone Janet Burchell, Church Administrator, 01793 812050 during office hours – Mon, Wed, Thurs & Fri – 9am to 2pm.
There is no need to book if you are attending the 8am or 6pm services, but you will need to sign-in for Covid track and trace purposes Please make sure that you have and wear a face mask; and be aware that you may not be able to sit in your ‘normal’ pew! We will of course be following all the government and C of E guidelines with regard to social distancing and cleaning etc. our detailed Covid-19 risk assessment is available on request.
10am Telephone service
The 10am telephone service is still taking place, so if you can’t join us in the church building please do dial in – you will be taking part in the service in church, albeit remotely.
- To join the Sunday service first dial this number: 03300 945 940.
- When prompted, enter the room number, followed by # on your telephone keypad: 60527473 #
- Finally, enter the guest PIN: 2656 #
- You may have to listen to some announcements, but you will then be automatically joined to the conference call. Join in with the responses in the liturgy as you would normally.
Calls to ‘03’ numbers are charged at the standard national rate and are included in your ‘free minutes’ if you have a call-plan.
Live streaming the 10am service
The 10am service will be live streamed on You Tube. As well as getting video, the sound quality should be better than the phone. However, unlike the telephone option, you will not be able to interact with other people or to be heard in the service. We don’t recommend trying to use both You Tube and the phone at the same time as this could cause an echo on the phone line, there is also a delay of about 30 seconds which is very off-putting. Sound/video quality on the telephone and YouTube
We know that there have been problems with audio and video quality for the last few weeks for those joining us at 10am on the telephone and on You Tube. We have been working hard to fix this and we hope that you will notice some improvement. Unfortunately music is always likely to sound poor over a telephone line, but you should be able to hear people speaking more clearly and get less freezing and ghosting on You Tube. I’m sure you’ll provide feedback…
Patronal Evensong
Our next service of evensong will be at 6pm on Sunday 27th June (not 4th July). This has been brought forward by a week to coincide with our Patronal Festival, The Birth of John the Baptist, on the 27th. Revd Phill just ‘knew’ there was something he meant to mention at the last service…
Telephone Service
We need to look at the future of our telephone service particularly as the sound quality suffers when we join with those in church. If you worship with us on the phone please call in early at 9.45 am on Sunday 20th June so that we can talk about how to use the telephone in the future. If you are unable to be there but would like to comment please contact the parish office. Barbara

Hello! – hope all is well. I will be hopefully Priested on 3rd July at 10.30 in Bristol Cathedral. Unfortunately, numbers are limited again at the Cathedral this year. However, we will be holding a worship and praise service at Holy Trinity Church, Westbury on Trym at 4.00 pm on 3rd July. This is therefore an invitation to you all if you would like to join me at this service on the day of my Priesting – it would be wonderful to see you all. Little Lambs

Art and Poetry Trail 1st-8th August
We wish to join in the trail both at church and at the church hall, but we need your ideas. Do you have a favourite piece of poetry, or a psalm you would like us to use, or do you have a piece of art that could safely be left in the churchyard? Perhaps you could make some art out of recycled objects? Please let me have your ideas, we may not be able to use them all, but tell me anyway. Barbara (tel.633024)
Filling Station
It will be our church’s turn to provide food for handing out to the homeless via the Filling Station on Thursday, 17th June. If you are willing to contribute a loaf of sandwiches (each round separately wrapped), fresh fruit (oranges and bananas only at present), cake/biscuits, fresh milk or a sliced loaf of bread, please ring or text me on 07930321451. This avoids having to pass a sign-up list around.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP)
Geoff Naylor, the local debt councillor for CAP and Pastor of Wroughton Discovery Church, is embarking on 230-mile solo walk from Fort William to Cape Wrath, camping each night. He began on 26th May and is now 150 miles into his walk. Last seen somewhere near Ullapool…

Knitting for Mission to Seafarers
Thank you to all our dedicated knitters who have been busy throughout the last 18 months of lockdowns and restrictions. I heard from the charity recently and sadly they are still unable to accept more knitwear as they cannot get it to the ships. Consequently can I ask you to keep any completed items and not to start on more. If you want to continue knitting for charity then the GWH Brighter Futures scheme would welcome knitted or crocheted 15cm (6inch) squares for end-of-life patients. Thank you. Janet Henderson 525856
Monday morning Bible Study
We have now returned to in person meetings and it is lovely to see each other face to face again, but there will be no meeting on Monday 14th June, as at long last I’ll be meeting family members (yippee!). Margaret Penfound.

Gifts of Faith, Hope and Love
A lasting gift to your church……..
“The Lord loves a cheerful giver’ (2 Corinthians 9: 7)
As a Christian, and a member of this church, many of us have been giving regularly to the mission and ministry of the Parish of Wroughton & Wichelstowe. Our generosity is a response to God’s abundant grace.
A legacy or gift in your will to our church can be a final expression of your gratitude and thanksgiving towards God – and is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can continue to support its ministry and mission.
A legacy can be left for specific or general purposes. (However, since needs change over the years, we encourage gifts to be left for the general purposes of the parish, i.e ‘unrestricted’).
No matter how large or small, your gift would be used to make a real difference, and could transform its future and help us to meet the needs of future generations.
We acknowledge gifts in whatever way you, or your executors, feel most appropriate. Equally, we can ensure gifts remain anonymous if preferred. (All gifts to charities, including churches, are tax free).
Please consider making provision for your church in your will.
