Mask wearing in church

The current PCC policy requesting that masks continue to be worn in church has been updated to recognise individual choice so that mask wearing will now be advisory only, providing that the president and chalice assistants will continue to wear masks during the distribution of Holy Communion. As Covid 19 has not disappeared, the situation will be kept under review.

Election of a second Churchwarden

You may recall that while we had one volunteer for the position of Churchwarden at our annual meeting in May there were two positions to be filled. The good news is that another volunteer has now come forward and so a short meeting for the election of a second Churchwarden to fill the casual vacancy existing since the last meeting of parishioners held on 15 May 2022 will be held in church immediately following the 10am service starting at 11.15 am on SUNDAY 3rd JULY 2022. This meeting may be attended by: (1) All persons whose names are entered on the church electoral roll of the parish and (2) All persons resident in the parish whose names are entered on a register of local government electors by reason of such residence. If there are any other volunteers please contact Helen Toomer via the Parish Office for a nomination form.

Chris Hunter’s ordination

Chris Hunter will be ordained priest at Bristol Cathedral on Saturday 2nd July at 3.00pm. It would be wonderful to see lots of people there as part of the service. If you are planning on attending, please let Chris know so we have an idea of numbers.

Updated regarding Coach – We have now booked a coach to leave at 1pm from the Ellendune Centre.  The cost will be £20 per person for those going by coach with the money now being due.  Please pay your coach money to  Ross, Jean or Janet.  We still have some spare seats available if you are interested going by coach.  If so, please sign the list at the back of the Church and pay Jean, Ross or Janet.

Art workshop – 27th & 28th June 22

A free, fun and practical workshop in church on 27/28th of June aimed at those with little art experience.  We will be studying a piece  of Christian art and attempting to paint part of it.  Spaces are limited so please contact Chris Offord 07866075474 or email chrispofford@msn.com to find out more or book your space.

Thank You

A huge thank you to everyone in the church family for the wonderful gifts presented to me as I prepare to leave Wroughton. For those who wonder what these are, I attach a photo of them, including a very generous voucher for B&Q which will come in very handy! I was very touched by your kindness and generosity and will take with me many happy memories of my time (53 years) in this village. It goes without saying that the church has played a great part in my life and has been very supporting and caring, both to myself and to my late husband David.

I shall miss you all very much, but God has new plans for me and I believe is preparing the way for the next stage in my life. I shall always be pleased to see any who wishes to drop in or stay a bit longer, as I’ll have a spare bedroom!  My new address as from 22nd June is  3, Park Avenue, Woodborough, Nottingham, NG14 6EB.   God Bless, Margaret Penfound.

Time to Deliver

In 2009 wealthy governments promised to give $100 billion each year from 2020 to enable lower-income countries to respond to the climate crisis. These promises have not been kept.

Britain still holds the COP presidency and is in a position to influence other countries to make good on the promises they made. Tearfund is asking us to call on our government to ensure these promises are fulfilled.

There are cards on the church chest that you can fill in to petition the government to act. Rather than return them individually, you can leave them in church and we will return them in bulk.

Macmillan Cancer Support Sponsorship

Tim Winter is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support by participating in the 100km Race to the Stones, along the Ridgeway to Avebury on 09-10 July.  If you would like to make a donation to this cause, please pass the money to Tim or go directly to his Justgiving page online: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tim-winter2

Eco Top Tips – practical ways to take better care of God’s creation

June – Share the love

  1. Talk to your PCC about using the Eco Church scheme arocha.org.uk to help your church reduce its environmental impact (and get an award!).
  2. Join the Climate Coalition Speak Up week theclimatecoalition.org to voice your concerns about our children’s futures, to our elected representatives.
  3. Write to your local councillor or MP about a local or national eco issue. There are top tips on how at hftf.org.uk . Be polite, don’t make it about party politics and make sure you are not being a NYBY.

We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have, died recently Penny North and Ray Gorringe.  We pray for all those who mourn the loss of a loved one.
