Mask wearing in church

The current PCC policy requesting that masks continue to be worn in church has been updated to recognise individual choice so that mask wearing will now be advisory only, providing that the president and chalice assistants will continue to wear masks during the distribution of Holy Communion. As Covid 19 has not disappeared, the situation will be kept under review.

Election of a second Churchwarden

You may recall that while we had one volunteer for the position of Churchwarden at our annual meeting in May there were two positions to be filled. The good news is that another volunteer has now come forward and so a short meeting for the election of a second Churchwarden to fill the casual vacancy existing since the last meeting of parishioners held on 15 May 2022 will be held in church immediately following the 10am service starting at 11.15 am on SUNDAY 3rd JULY 2022. This meeting may be attended by: (1) All persons whose names are entered on the church electoral roll of the parish and (2) All persons resident in the parish whose names are entered on a register of local government electors by reason of such residence. If there are any other volunteers please contact Helen Toomer via the Parish Office for a nomination form.

Church Hill Road Closure

We have been told by SBC that the road closure  from Church Hill to Broad Hinton, Friday 8th to Wednesday 13th July will not affect access to the Church and Legge House.

Chris Hunter’s ordination

If you have booked to go on the coach please be at the Ellendune before 1pm so that we can leave on time!

Thank You

Many thanks to everyone that helped and came to our Cream Teas event though the weather wasn’t perfect!  We managed to raise £1,010 for the Prospect Hospice.

Help needed

If you can spare an hour on the afternoon of Saturday 9th July to give a break to those handing out our treasure hunt sheets at the carnival, please let me know.  This is a sitting down job, chairs and table provided. The field is open from midday.  Barbara 633024

Time to Deliver

In 2009 wealthy governments promised to give $100 billion each year from 2020 to enable lower-income countries to respond to the climate crisis. These promises have not been kept.

Britain still holds the COP presidency and is in a position to influence other countries to make good on the promises they made. Tearfund is asking us to call on our government to ensure these promises are fulfilled.

There are cards on the church chest that you can fill in to petition the government to act. Rather than return them individually, you can leave them in church and we will return them in bulk.

Eco Top Tips – practical ways to take better care of God’s creation

July –Transport Tips

  1. Half the carbon cost of every car journey by car sharing. A medium car emits 360g of CO2 a mile whether it has one, two or more people in it. Join a car share club online and save up to £1000 a year.
  2. If you are driving show love and respect to cyclists by improving your road behaviour. Their bike mile has a carbon footprint of 2g compared to your small car of 280g CO2e a mile.

Funerals

We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have, died recently Valerie McDonald and John Kibble.  We pray for all those who mourn the loss of a loved one.
