Mask wearing in church
The current PCC policy requesting that masks continue to be worn in church has been updated to recognise individual choice so that mask wearing will now be advisory only, providing that the president and chalice assistants will continue to wear masks during the distribution of Holy Communion. As Covid 19 has not disappeared, the situation will be kept under review.
Pumpkin Party Food – Saturday 29th October
Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help at the Pumpkin Party, even if you haven’t signed up you are still welcome to come. We will need some food to give partygoers, so if you can help with some sandwiches , cakes or something else there is a list of the sort of food we would like on the table at the crossing in church.
All Soul’s Evensong – Sunday 30th October at 6.00pm
All Souls Day is the day in the church year when we particularly remember, pray for, and commend to God all those who have died. At this service we will be remembering by name some of those who have died. If you would like the name of your loved one remembered in this way then please add their name to the back of church.
Church@4
Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting about Church@4 last Sunday and to everyone who has contributed their thoughts and ideas.
There is a very clear desire to share the gospel with our community and to provide a space for people, formally or informally, in the coming months. As soon as we have considered everyone’s views and been able to make a decision, we will let you know what our next steps as a church will be. In the meantime, please continue to pray for wisdom as we discern how best to serve our community and to build God’s Kingdom here in Wroughton and Wichelstowe. Many thanks, The Church@4 team

Legge House invite you to one of our two fundraising Christmas dinner.
As in previous years these lunchtime / evening events will be a time to relax and enjoy yourselves, while supporting Legge House’s work with many young people. As this is a fund raising event we are asking for £27.50 per person. As usual soft drinks provided but you would be welcome to bring your own bottle. The date will be Monday 12th December, at 6.30pm for 7pm meal.
We also plan to hold a lunch time dinner for those preferring to get home before it is dark. On Thursday 15th at 12.30pm for 1pm meal. Contact leggehouse@btconnect.com or 813273 to book your place.
A Message from The Filling Station
Sadly, Lucy, one of our long-standing van packers passed away recently. We send our condolences to her family, and our thanks for all her support over many years.
Lucy’s ‘packing partner’, Ann-Marie now wishes to step down, and our thanks go to her also.
If there is anyone reading this who would like to consider stepping into the role, I would be delighted to hear from you. It is a ‘once every 8 weeks’ commitment and involves putting tins into carrier bags from the store plus making sure there is enough tea /coffee/sugar etc. ready for the next session. It usually takes not more than a couple of hours. We will, of course, provide support and training.
Please think about it and, if you are interested, catch me in church or at jools008@btinternet.com .
Many thanks. Andrew Bond
Traidcraft
I will be selling Traidcraft in Church on Sunday 6th November. Because I realise this will clash with the healing team I will have the table near the font. The following week is Remembrance Sunday which will leave possibly one more Sunday November 20th ( as we are then on holiday) to get your cards for Christmas. Traidcraft are offering a 10% discount on certain items to help with the cost of living so if you are able have a look at their website. Sally Parker
Eco Top Tips – practical ways to take better care of God’s creation
October – What’s on the menu?
- Cut back on cheese and dairy products. Cows burp methane a very strong greenhouse gas. Eat more plant based alternatives like oat or soya “milk”, hummus, olives, nuts and seeds.
- Stick to tap water. Bottled water comes with a 320g per litre carbon footprint, whereas tap water is a mere 0.24g CO2e per litre. If you don’t like the taste of your home tap water, install an under the sink water filter.
Please pray for…
St John’s church in Parks and St Andrew’s church in Walcot. The churches in Parks and Walcot have been without a vicar for around a year and are being supported by clergy from across the Swindon Deanery (Chris was there on 9th Oct and Phill on 30th). Please pray that the job advert produces a candidate with the right skills and experience to love and lead them into the future.
Funerals
We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have, died recently Jodie Costello and Vera Sheppard.
We pray for all those who mourn the loss of a loved one.
