Easter 3

A PRAYER FOR EASTER

God of love,  my prayer is simple: Your son, Jesus, suffered and died for me. I know only  that I cannot have real strength unless I rely on you.  I cannot feel protected from my many weaknesses until I turn to you for forgiveness and your unalterable love. Help me to share this strength, protection and love with others.  Amen

Prayer for Healing on the Streets

We are looking for prayer support while our team is in the Ellendune Centre once a fortnight on a Saturday morning. We would like at least two people each time and they can provide this support in their own home. It doesn’t have to be the same people every time, so if you are willing to offer this ministry occasionally, please speak to the Vicar or Margaret Penfound.

CHURCH IN THE WIDER WORLD

For the next couple of months we are supporting the Church Mission Society (CMS) with our prayers.

CMS has partners in South Sudan, a country still in turmoil despite the recent elections. Please pray:

  • for Derek and Jane Waller, training clergy and encouraging the laity in Yei Diocese
  • for Ruth Radley in the same diocese, working with children and helping the churches and communities to identify their needs
  • for the churches in South Sudan working to bring peace and counter radicalism in their country
  • for CMS staff at the headquarters in Oxford as they provide support for their link partners abroad

Family of Hope, Uganda

Family of Hope is a charity which funds a school in rural Eastern Uganda for children with special educational needs and those in extreme poverty.  Alex Horlock (Rosemary and Brian’s daughter-in-law) will be giving a presentation about the charity to the Mothers’ Union in the Church Croft, St Bartholomews, Royal Wootton Bassett on Tuesday, 21st April at 7.30 p.m.   Anyone interested in the work in Uganda is welcome to come to the presentation.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) – Mike and Hannah Awre are running in the Manchester Marathon today in order to raise money for CAP which is a national charity working in partnership with local churches across the UK. CAP provides top quality debt counselling and practical support to see people released from the pressures of debt and given a hope for the future. As well as releasing people from debt it also provides help in many of the arrears associated with debt including unemployment and addictions. CAP does not have Government funding so relies purely on regular givers and one off donations. If you would be willing to sponsor Mike and Hannah it would be greatly appreciated. The link to their just giving page is: www.justgiving.com/hannah-awre1. If you prefer to donate by means of a paper form, there is a form on the Church chest.
