2015 Year of discipleship

Farm Sunday 7th June 10.30am at Overtown Farm

Every year over 500 farms across the country open their doors (or should that be gates) to the public so that we can understand better the life of a farmer and what it takes to feed the nation. This year John White’s Overtown Farm will be open and we will be holding a service there at 10.30am to start the day off.

Revd Nicola Such’s priesting at Bristol Cathedral

A coach has been booked for Nicola’s priesting on Sunday 5th July.  The service is at 10.30am.  The coach will leave the Ellendune Centre at 8.45am.  Please see Jean Ford to book a seat.  The cost will be £10.00 per person.

Nave Altar

Following many positive comments following the use of the nave altar in the course of Lent we will be using the nave altar for services on normal Sundays from 14th June.

Scarecrow Trail We have registered to take part in the Scarecrow trail again this year. If anyone is interested in helping make our scarecrow please let Barbara or Jean Ford know. We will be making it in the week leading up to Saturday 4th July.

Polar Explorers As we begin to plan for holiday club we would be grateful for your prayers, particularly for the children and their families. We would also like to borrow three or four small beach tents or shelters that could with the help of sheets be made to look like igloos. If you have one that is  available between 10th and 14th August please let Barbara know. Next planning meeting will be on 22nd June, 8pm at 59 Tismeads Crescent.

Filling Station

It is our church’s turn to provide sandwiches, etc. for the Filling Station on Thursday, 18th June. If you are willing to contribute, please sign the list, take reminder card and bring your item to 11 St John Road by 5.00p.m. Thank you for supporting this worthwhile cause for the homeless in Swindon.

Church Lifts

If you either would like a Church Lift or could offer a lift to Church on a regular basis, please would you contact  Janet in the Parish Office (812050).

Bell Ringing – Help needed

At present, we have a small, but, keen group of ringers.  Unfortunately, unless we are able to recruit some more people, the future for ringing here at Wroughton looks doubtful.  If you feel that you might like to learn, or indeed you rang previously and would like to restart, please come and join us at our weekly practice, 7pm to 8.30pm every Friday.

Lost Property

Two men’s jackets have been left in the choir vestry since Easter, both from M&S and in excellent condition. CHURCH IN THE WIDER WORLD

CMS (Church Mission Society) is active in many different countries, bringing the Gospel message and practical support by means of long and short term placements.

Please pray:

  • for the work that CMS is doing in Nepal, currently distributing food, clothing and tents to those made homeless by the earthquake
  • for the reconciliation ministry in Israel-Palestine led by CMS trustee Salim Munayer who is looking for more staff as the work is growing
  • for CMS-Africa, training women in basic business skills based on biblical perspectives, to enable them to earn a living.

This week please pray for:-

  • Church Mission Society
  • The residents of Langton Park and Lister Road
  • For those taking GCSE’s
  • Myles Cameron and Faye Gallagher who marry in Church on Saturday
  • We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have died recently especially Dorothy Layzell and Norman Edwards, Molly Yates. We pray for all who mourn the loss of loved ones.
