A PRAYER FOR ALL CHRISTIAN PEOPLE

Lord, by your Holy Spirit,

The sad news of the death Doreen was received last week.

The funeral will take place on Thursday 9th July, 12.30pm in Church.  Our prayers and thoughts are with Gordon and the family.

Church at 4 starts 26th July

Our new informal 4pm service in the Parish Hall each Sunday begins on 26th July and we would like to encourage everyone to think about how they might support this venture as we seek new opportunities to inspire and encourage present and future generations of disciples. There are many opportunities to get involved, and there will be a sign-up sheet at the back of the church after services today on which you can indicate your interest.

Scarecrow Trail Picnic – Saturday 11th July

Celebrate the end of the scarecrow trail with a picnic!  Join in the fun at Willow-Brook Garden between 12 and 2pm, kids fancy dress on the theme of a children’s book.  If you are around to help run a simple craft activity or just to come and chat it’s a great opportunity to get to know new people .  Speak to Nicola for information.

Samson Randall-Stratton is being baptised on Sunday 12th July during the 10.30am service at Sunnyside in Berkhamsted. You are most welcome to join! Please contact Katie and Jools katierandallstratton@gmail.com for full info.

Church Barbeque

Our barbeque this year will be on Saturday, 18th July from 3.00 p.m. and Keith and Mary Lambert are once again letting us hold it at Sorrells Farm. If you would like to come, there is a sign-up sheet on the church chest, together with directions to the farm. If you are able to provide a salad or sweet, that would be helpful but not essential. The cost is £3 each to cover sausages, burgers etc. Please bring something to sit on.

The Ride and Stride is scheduled for

Saturday 12th September 2015.

This year’s Wiltshire Historic Churches Cycle Ride and Stride, organised by the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust, takes place on Saturday 12th September. The event seeks participants to raise sponsorship by visiting as many Wiltshire Churches as they are able in the day, either by bicycle or on foot (or horseback, if you wish), commencing at 10.00 am and concluding at 6.00 pm. The participating Churches take you across the county’s urban and rural scenery. Whether you just want to visit handful of churches or fill the whole day, it doesn’t matter – if you are interested in taking part in this sponsored event, raising money for the maintenance and fabric of Wiltshire’s many and varied historic church buildings, please contact local event organiser, Mike Mason (tel 632574) for further details and a sponsor form. There is also a dedicated facility for this event in ‘Just Giving’, so sponsorship can be managed on line.

CHURCH IN THE WIDER WORLD

CMS (Church Mission Society) is active in many different countries, bringing the Gospel message and practical support by means of long and short term placements.

Please pray:

  • for the work that CMS is doing in Nepal, currently distributing food, clothing and tents to those made homeless by the earthquake
  • for the reconciliation ministry in Israel-Palestine led by CMS trustee Salim Munayer who is looking for more staff as the work is growing
  • for CMS-Africa, training women in basic business skills based on biblical perspectives, to enable them to earn a living.

Mission to Seafarers

Thank you to the two ladies who have recently given me knitted hats and scarves.  I sent them off and have received a Thank You letter from the charity.

Piracy, shipwreck, abandonment and separation from loved ones are just a few of the problems merchant seafarers face. Around the world, The Mission to Seafarers provides help and support to the 1.5 million men and women who face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat.
