Giving to the church during the current emergency

During the current emergency many people are chosing to join in with us in new ways – on the telephone and on the internet. While there are fewer people coming into our buildings for services, we still have substantial costs. We have experienced a reduction in income from donations as well as Church Hall lettings and this means that we will spend more money than we recieve during 2020 and 2021. There is an update on our financial position here.

During the pandemic, how your giving is affected depends on how you give.

I give through the Envelope Scheme or by putting money in the plate

Obviously if you are not joining us in the church building then you cannot put money in the plate or hand in your envelopes at services at the moment, but you can still give in any of the following ways:

  1. By sending a cheque to the Parish Office, Church Hall, Priors Hill, Wroughton, SN4 0RT (or you can post it through the letterbox);
  2. You can make a direct payment from your bank – please contact the parish office for our bank details;
  3. You can now give directly through this link or the “Donate Now” button at the top of this page.  If you pay tax you can also Gift Aid your donation.
I give by Standing Order

If you normally give by Standing Order you donations will continue as always.

I give through the Parish Giving Scheme

If you normally give through the Parish Giving Scheme then this will happen as normal. If you would like to set up a standing order please contact the parish office for details. If you would like find out more about the Parish Giving Scheme see the details below.

Ways you can give regularly to Wroughton and Wichelstowe Parish Church

It costs around £150,000 each year to run the church and almost all of that comes from donations from church members. There are three main ways in which you can regularly give to Wroughton and Wichelstowe Parish Church. If you pay tax then you can also gift aid your donation which allows us to claim back the tax you paid on the donation.

How do we use your information?

When you are part of one of our planned giving schemes we may need to keep some information about you and your donations.  This information is kept secure and will not be revealed to third parties except in order to claim gift aid (where you have indicated that we can)  Further information can be found our privacy policy

The Parish Giving Scheme

The Parish Giving Scheme is a scheme administered nationally by the Church of England who do all the administration. They collect the money from your bank each month by Direct Debit, claim any Gift Aid and pay it as a lump sum into our bank account every month as a single payment. The scheme is really easy for us  as the Parish Giving Scheme do all the work at no cost to the PCC – all the money you donate and any gift aid is paid directly to the PCC each month.

If you wish to change you donation at any time you can contact by telephone on 0333 002 1260, email them on or write to them at their new address :

 Directly from your bank by Standing Order

You can set up a standing order to pay us directly from your bank.  If you wish to do this please contact the parish office to get a standing order form.

The Envelope Scheme

You can get a set of envelopes with your own unique number on them so that you can put the money in the plate at services.  This allows us to identify where the donation came from so that if you pay tax and have filled in a gift aid form, we can claim the tax back that you have paid on your donation.
