VACANCY PRAYER

We invite you to read our Vacancy Prayer at a convenient time during the week, as our prayer for God’s guidance and blessing as we seek our new Vicar.

Dear loving Father,

Creator and Sustainer

Our Rock and our Comforter.

We come humbly to you

With open and expectant hearts

So grateful for your friendship

Trusting that you hear and answer us.

We’re asking for your guidance

In our time of vacancy

That you would help us choose

The leader to take us on into the future.

Show us how to love and serve

Those communities where you have placed us.

Give us your vision and courage

And light the path ahead of us.

Lord, we’re listening for your voice

To faithfully follow you

With hearts wide open

And resting in your Presence.

We pray these things in the name of Jesus

And all for His glory.

All           Amen

Electoral Roll Revision 2026

Our annual church Electoral Roll revision runs from 24th February to 27th April 2026.  The Roll is open to anyone over 16 years old, who is baptised and is either resident in the parish or who regularly attends our services.  Being on the Roll allows you to attend and vote at the Annual Meeting on Sunday 17th May 2026, and if you are not resident in the parish it gives you certain rights otherwise only given to residents.

If you regularly attend our services and are not already on the roll, we would like to encourage you to join the Electoral Roll.  Application forms are available in church or from the Parish Office – tel 01793 812050 or email: office@wroughton.com.  Completed forms should be returned to the Parish Office by Monday 27th April at the latest.

Last year we conducted a complete revision of the Electoral Roll, where everyone had to complete a form to be added to the new Roll.  This year, it is only necessary to complete a form if you are not already on our Electoral Roll.  If you are uncertain if you are on the Roll, there is a copy on the pillar as you enter church, or otherwise please contact Janet in the Parish office.

Update on Work in Baptism Area

We have received approval from the Diocese and the work will be presiding in the next few weeks.

Altar-server Training

There is to be an altar-server’s training session at 11:15am on Saturday 28th February 2026 in the Church building. This is both a refresher for the present team and for those interested in potentially becoming altar servers. Any appointment to the team has to be ratified by the churchwardens and the PCC. It will be led by Revd. Andrew Francis, Jean Ford (Lead Server) and Gillian Pitter (Sacristan). Please speak to Andrew or Jean if you are interested in attending. Coffee will be served from 11:00am.

Adlent Calender

Swindon Food Collective have suggested that during Lent why not gather items to help those less fortunate than yourselves.  On the chest is a sheet that they have suggested items.  Please pick one up if you are interested.  If you wish to do this there will be box in the Church Office for you to deliver your items.

New Small Group  starting in March

Sorry:  Gentlemen, this group is not for you, if you want a couple of hours, away from the lady’s chatter, then Mike Mason runs a men’s group:  It will not be a bible study group, currently there are several groups who will welcome you.

Lady’s Fellowship will be on a rolling week day morning, The program will be a walk and talk for about an hour,  then return to have a cupper and chat, to include a short talk about a period in the life of someone which is of interest to others.  A period of life living abroad, working in an interesting job, or after a special holiday.  (20 minutes max).   We will then end in a period of quieter reflection.

The first three dates are Wednesday March 11th ,  Wednesday 22nd April,  and  Tuesday  May 19th.   Meeting at 27 Dunbar Rd, SN4 9DS. At 9.45 am.

I know that everyone already has a busy timetable, and therefore will not be able to join us for every walk.  Please let me know if you are interested, and which days suit you best.

Pancake Races

A big thank you to everyone who helped with the Pancake Racing on Tuesday. As the grass in Willow Brook Gardens is still very wet we raced on the Church Hall playground. There were about 35 children and parents and grandparents as well as our hard working kitchen staff. We had to go and get some extra batter as we ran out of mixture for making pancakes.  A wonderful time was had by all.  There are photos posted on our Facebook page.

The Patchwork Garden

Open Days 2025   10am – 4pm

18th April              25th April              23rd May               6th June

27 Dunbar Road,  SN4 9DS

The garden is wheelchair accessible

We are again opening our garden through the “Quiet Garden Movement”.   We have several quiet seating areas, each with resources to allow you to “come by your self and know God”, through using your five senses in nature.   Seating is both in full sun and shade.  Drinks will be available, and you are welcome to bring a picnic.

We can also put the resources out for your small groups to come for their summer event in July.  There is plenty of space for a group activity, and as individuals three or four people  will have enough places to move around freely.

Wroughton Carnival 2026

The carnival this year will be on the 4th July.  Members of the Church will be involved in a number of  ways through other groups they are members of.   Mark and Sheila Tubey are looking after the Parade this year, and need volunteers.  Some will be for a couple hours including briefing, to stand at road entrances, as the procession passes.   Another  afternoon short time volunteer role will be at the entrances on the field, receiving donations from those going into the site.  Of course there is also a need for people to help set up early morning, or clear away at the end of the day.  If you can spare a few hours on July 4th, please speak to Mark or Sheila, or e amil mark_tubey@shy.com

Ellendune Community Centre

As Chairman of the Friends of the Ellendune community centre I would like to invite you to join us. We have a WhatsApp group for Friends where we can keep you up to date with events we are organising and where we will ask for help should we need volunteers.  If you would particularly like to join our Committee please talk to me.

Information can also be found in the Wroughton monthly. Sally Parker

CHILDREN’S SOCIETY

The annual Children’s Society box opening has raised £307.25 for the valuable work that the society does for children and young people. The recent coffee morning raised a further £70. Many thanks to the box holders and those who supported the coffee morning. Carolyn
