Why We Care for Creation
In Genesis, the first book of the Bible, God creates the earth and everything in it and declares it “very good”. Humanity is called to be stewards of creation — to care for the world responsibly and protect it for future generations.
Today, climate change presents one of the greatest challenges facing our world. As Christians, we are called to respond with compassion, action, and hope — caring for our neighbours, our communities, and the environment we all share.
We recognise and teach that creation care and action to address the climate and nature crisis are integral to Christian life, life and worship. We are committed to this by participating in the A Rocha UK Eco-Church Award scheme.
As part of the Diocese of Bristol, our parish is committed to taking meaningful steps towards a more sustainable future through worship, community action, and environmental responsibility.

Our Eco Church Journey
Our journey with the Eco Church Scheme, run by environmental charity A Rocha has helped us review and improve how we care for creation across church life, worship, buildings, land, and community engagement.

How We’re Making a Difference
Supporting Sustainable Practices
We are proud to be a Fairtrade Church and actively choose environmentally responsible suppliers and resources wherever possible.
Reducing Waste & Energy Use
We buy our electricity from suppliers providing 100% renewable electricity and continue improving the energy efficiency of our buildings. We also compost churchyard waste and reduce disposable materials wherever possible.
Encouraging Community Action
We encourage sustainable living across our church community and support local environmental initiatives, conversations, and events that help us care for creation together.
Renewable Energy
In 2021, solar photovoltaic slates were installed on the Church Hall roof to help generate clean solar energy.
This project was partly funded through support from the Wiltshire Community Foundation.
Working Towards Gold
Achieving the Eco Church Gold Award is our next goal. We continue exploring ways to reduce energy consumption, improve biodiversity, and encourage sustainable living across our parish community.
We believe caring for creation is not only about buildings and resources, but also about how we live our everyday lives and care for one another.
