What Was Installed
Solar PV Slates
The roof includes solar photovoltaic (PV) slates, which closely resemble natural slates. From the ground, you would not know they are there.
Because the Church Hall is located in a conservation area, the system was carefully designed to preserve the building’s appearance while introducing renewable energy.
The slates were manufactured in South Wales by GB-Sol Ltd, and are designed to withstand the extremes of UK weather.
How It Works
How Solar PV Works
Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology in the panels generates electricity from daylight.
This energy is then used directly to:
Heat the Church Hall
Providing warmth and comfort for all visitors
Power lighting and electrical systems
Running all necessary equipment efficiently
This reduces the need to purchase electricity from the National Grid.
Why This Matters
Solar energy brings multiple benefits to our community and planet
Renewable & Sustainable
Energy that never runs out and supports our planet
Powered by Sunlight
Generating clean energy right where we need it
Zero Emissions
Free from greenhouse gas emissions during operation
Low Maintenance
Reliable technology with minimal upkeep
Cost-Saving
Reduced energy bills for years to come
Carbon Reduction
An important step towards sustainability
This installation is an important step in reducing our carbon footprint and making our buildings more sustainable.
Climate Commitment
Our parish of Wroughton & Wichelstowe declared a climate emergency in 2020.
As a church community, we are committed to doing what we can to respond to the challenges of climate change through practical action and long-term sustainability.
Community Impact
Inspiring Change
We hope this project encourages others in our community to explore solar energy and consider installing renewable systems in their own homes and businesses.
Every solar installation contributes to a cleaner, more sustainable future for our community and planet.
