REVD CHRIS UPDATE

From the start of September Revd Chris will be taking up the part-time role of Curate in Charge of the Benefice of Wanborough and Liddington, Bishopstone with Hinton Parva. This is a half-time role and in the other half of his time he will continue as our Curate here in Wroughton and Wichelstowe. His primary focus will be on supporting and guiding the four villages through a continuing long vacancy. It’s great that Chris is now ready to take this step and that he can begin to ‘fly solo’ – this experience is part of his training and will stand him in good stead for the future. Revd Phill.

HOLIDAY CLUB ACTIVITY DAY

The activity day is due to take place on 8th August, we currently have 29 children registered to come. We would be grateful for contributions of non perishable food items such as crisps and cakes to make up part of the children’s lunch. Please see the sign up sheet in church. Contributions should be brought to church on Sunday 6th August if possible. If you have any small glass jars (lids not needed) such as those used for mustard or honey to hold a tealight then that would be very useful too.

Filling Station Driver(s) needed!

Would you like to join our team of drivers? We have a couple of vacancies. The Filling Station van (a Ford Transit) goes into town every Thursday evening. The session is a couple of hours long in total, and each driver has an average of one drive per month.

Our insurance dictates that all drivers must be over 30 years of age; there are no other stipulations.  If you would like to help, please feel free to catch me in church or email me at jools008@btinternet.com

Many thanks in anticipation.  Andrew Bond

Filling Station Sandwiches

Kathy Gregory would like to thank everyone who contributed with making sandwiches last week for the Filling Station.  All help is much appreciated.

Summer steps challenge for Dementia UK

I started this challenge to walk 1 million steps during June July and August on 1st June and set myself a mini target to get to 500,000 steps by July 15th On my very soggy walk on Friday 14th July I exceeded this. My total to that day is 506,479 which is 217 miles.
Dementia UK supports dementia sufferers and their families and friends.

Eco Top Tips – practical ways to take better care of God’s creation

July – Your electrical appliances

  1. The location of your fridge can make a difference in how energy efficient it is. Make sure it is out of direct sunlight and not close to the oven. Keeping it against an outside wall will help the heat it generates escape easily, and always make sure that there is a few inches’ space all around the fridge so that air can circulate.
  2. Electrical gadgets are great, but the environmental impact of manufacturing them and disposing of them at the end of their life is high. Think before you buy more gadgets.

Knitting for GWH Brighter Futures

I’ve delivered our two latest blankets to the End of life Unit at GWH. Thank you for all the knitted and crocheted squares. Please keep them coming. Janet Henderson 525856Margaret Freegard

Some of you may remember Margaret, wife of Keith Freegard who came to the church some years ago.  Sadly Margaret died in May at the Prospect Hospice.  Please remember Keith in your prayers.

Funerals

We commend to God’s care and keeping those who have, died recently Eric Archer, Iris Dickens and Marlene Ching.  We pray for all those who mourn the loss of a loved one.
